Welcome To Matt's Website
‘Matt Davies’
Vision for the future
Matt has had the passion and desire to be a Formula 1 racing driver since before Lewis Hamilton became well known 18 months ago. His friends over the past few years have been good at football, cricket, horse riding etc and although Matt had always been included in cricket and football teams, he will be the first to admit that it wasn’t exactly his forte until he stepped in to a seat of a Go kart at the tender age of 10. Matt quickly realised that not only did he really enjoy this pastime; he was actually very good at it.
Matt wants to become a racing driver and with his mature attitude towards his driving in all situations on the track, he is destined for bigger and better things, whether it be F1, Rallying, Touring Cars or testing F1 engines for the likes of Renault, Ferrari or McLaren, he is destined to become successful racing driver.
There are many children with parents who throw large amounts of money at karting in the Cadet Class in the hope of living the dream through their children, but unfortunately, if you’re not a good confident driver, it doesn’t matter how much money you throw at it, it’s unlikely to pay off, however, the real drivers always appear to excel in the end and Matt is one of them.
He has had 5x Outdoor races at Club level so far and has won the Novice Cup on every occasion; sometimes beating some of the drivers on the track that have been around for a year or two. It has not been unusual for him to jump 10 positions in an 8 Lap Heat, however, because he is on Novice Plates, he will always start at the back of the grid and fights his way through to a top 10 position on most occasions.
He had his last race at Whilton Mill in Rugby on 23/03/08 on his Novice Plates. He will then run his next race off Novice Plates which will mean that he will now start his heats in the first 3rd or the 2nd third of the grid instead of the back.
His ambition by the end of 2008 is to finish on a podium place either at Whilton Mill or at Kimbolton. The target for 2009 will be to continue racing at the 2 clubs and to enter either the “Stars of Tomorrow” Series or the “Super One” Series with a view to finishing in the top 3.
I believe that this will be achieved, but only through the help of Leon at Soixante Racing and with the backing and support of a generous Sponsorship deal.
